I discovered my love for architecture and construction when I was 15 years old. I’ve always felt lucky to have found my path so early. I was drawn to the balance of creativity and structure, and my favorite subjects were always art, physics, and just about every kind of math. They were the classes that made me excited to learn, and looking back, it makes total sense that they led me to a career in building and design.
When I started college in 2020, I majored in Interior Architecture with a minor in Construction Management. From the beginning, my goal was to work in a field that combined custom architectural design with the real-life process of building. After shadowing architects and spending time in design offices, I realized I was most energized on job sites, watching things come to life, coordinating trades, and understanding how design becomes reality. I switched my major to Construction Management, and it was the best decision I could have made.
As a young woman in the construction industry, I’ve been fortunate to feel welcomed and supported. I’ve learned so much from working alongside both architects and subcontractors, and I’ve found that I thrive in that in-between space where design intent meets real-world execution. I love walking a jobsite just as much as I enjoy reading and visualizing plans. That has always been my favorite part of the process.
Working with A. Perry Homes has been everything I hoped for in a design-build environment. I’ve grown so much by being part of a team that values craftsmanship and takes pride in thoughtful, well-executed design. I’ve always been especially drawn to custom homes and historic preservation, projects that are full of character and built with care.
Outside of work, I love traveling to cities known for their architecture and studying buildings the way some people study art. I also spend time volunteering with Young Life, reading, hiking, doing Pilates, paddle boarding, finding great dinner spots, and enjoying time with friends and family here in Chattanooga.
